On February 21, 2023, Mayor Henry joined community members, City personnel, and more to celebrate the updated exercise room at the Artesia Senior Center with a ribbon cutting. The exercise room is open Monday through Friday during the Senior Center's normal operating hours. The new equipment gives seniors the opportunity to add movement to their day and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Artesia Senior Center received new, updated equipment for the exercise room thanks to a collaborative agreement between the Chase Foundation, HF Sinclair, KC Light Towers, the PY Foundation, and the TLC2 Foundation.
The Senior Center provides even more opportunities for our senior population nearly every day of the week. Transportation to and from the center, the meal site, and even shopping is available with a reservation!
The Senior Center is open to anyone aged 50 or above and is open Monday through Thursdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with dances occurring on Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 to 9 p.m. Each month, a calendar with activities and events is posted to the Senior Center page on the City of Artesia website located here: https://www.artesianm.gov/183/Senior-Center. Activities include painting, Swedish weaving, exercise videos, stained glass, bingo, dances, and so much more.
