On October 29th, the city of Artesia held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the kickoff of construction of the new recreation center. The new rec center will be located in between the aquatic center and Eagle Draw.
The groundbreaking was widely attended. Many members of the community were present, including busses full of students from local elementary schools. In his speech at the event, Mayor Jon Henry said that he hopes the new recreation center can be a place that people of all ages can enjoy.
The two-story plans for the new rec center include space for pickleball courts, basketball courts, a weight room, track, and more. The new center will open in early 2026.
