[ARCHIVED] MAYOR HENRY ISSUES PROCLAMATION

Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month May 2023 Be aware check blind spots drive & ride sober share road

Every May, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) promotes Motorcycle Safety Awareness and provides statistics, safety tips, and important reminders. This is the perfect time for the citizens of Artesia to be reminded of the importance of safe driving practices whether driving a commercial vehicle, a motorcycle, or a normal passenger vehicle.

Today, May 1, 2023, Mayor Jon Henry proclaimed May 2023 as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. In the proclamation. Mayor Henry encouraged all citizens of Artesia to renew their commitments to safe driving practices and to be observant, courteous, and knowledgeable about motorcycle usage in our community. When driving or riding, it's always important to be aware, check blind spots, drive and ride sober, ride with a Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant helmet, obey the speed limit and all traffic laws, and share the road with other motorists.

Together, we can help keep each other safe on our roads and scenic highways!

A copy of the full proclamation is available at City Hall.
