The Administrative Division handles several services for the Artesia Police Department. These services include the Professional Standards Unit, which oversees policies/procedures, and investigating department personnel on any allegations of misconduct. The Records Department, which manages the majority of files recorded by our officers and staff. The Training Department, which oversees and coordinates basic and/or advanced training for the entire department. The Recruiting and Hiring Division, which manages our efforts in hiring the best candidates, in all opened positions, for our community. The Animal Shelter, which oversees and works closely with Paws & Claws on handling the intake of animals.
The Administrative Division is under the command of Pete Quinones. Commander Quinones has been with the department for over 16 years. He’s a former graduate of Artesia High School and New Mexico State University.
