Last year we conducted over 15,000 hours of training for our personnel. That is an average of more than 500 per firefighter, well above the 240 hours required. Topics ranged from structural and aircraft firefighting, hazardous materials response, emergency vehicle operations, and various emergency medical technician subjects. All department personnel remained certified in all aspects of department emergency response requirements.
The men and women of the Artesia Fire Department continue to contribute to the city’s effort to meet required safety training hours as established by our insurer. The department had 100% of its personnel complete the required safety training hours for fiscal years 2015 and 2016.
